Surface route note

Round bar is not quoted by grade alone. Hot rolled, cold drawn, peeled, ground and bright bar routes have different tolerance, surface finish and machining allowance.

Grade matching note

Equivalent grade names such as 1045, C45, S45C and 45 steel must be checked by chemistry, mechanical properties, heat treatment condition and ordered standard before substitution.

What is the difference between hot rolled and bright round bar?

Hot rolled round bar is normally used for general fabrication and machining stock. Bright bar, peeled bar, ground bar or cold-drawn bar is selected when tighter diameter tolerance, better surface finish or improved straightness is required.
