Steel Plate & Sheet
Weathering & Wear Resistant Plate
Project plate for two different duties: weathering steel for exposed outdoor structures and wear resistant plate for abrasion service.
Product Overview
Separate corrosion resistance from abrasion duty
Himount supplies weathering steel plate for bridges, outdoor structures, containers and architectural work, as well as wear resistant plate for mining, liners, chutes, buckets and heavy equipment. The two product routes are quoted separately because the required standard, grade, delivery condition and performance target are different.

Typical Applications
Where these plates are normally specified
Confirm whether the project calls for natural patina development, coating, welding procedure, atmospheric exposure condition and the exact standard grade.
Confirm hardness range, bending or welding need, cut shape, flatness, service abrasion condition, impact exposure and certificate requirements.

Buyer FAQ
Questions to settle before quotation
Is weathering plate the same as wear resistant plate?
No. Weathering plate is selected for atmospheric corrosion resistance in outdoor structures. Wear resistant plate is selected for hardness and abrasion service. State the intended duty in the RFQ.
Can Corten be used as the final grade name?
Corten is a common trade and buyer search term. Final supply should still be confirmed by the ordered standard and grade, such as ASTM A588, ASTM A242 or EN 10025-5 weathering grades.
What should be confirmed for NM400 or NM500?
Confirm hardness range, thickness, flatness, cutting plan, welding or bending requirement, service abrasion condition, inspection level and MTC requirement.
Should weathering steel plate be painted?
It depends on project exposure and design requirements. Confirm surface condition, coating plan, welding procedure and whether natural patina development is acceptable.
