What is the difference between pipe and tube orders?
Pipe orders are often specified by NPS and schedule for pressure or fluid service. Tube orders are usually specified by OD, wall thickness, surface and tolerance.
Which ASTM standards are common?
ASTM A312 is common for seamless and welded austenitic stainless pipe, A269 for general service tubing, A213 for boiler and heat exchanger tubing, and A554 for welded mechanical tubing.
What surface options should be confirmed?
Confirm pickled, annealed and pickled, bright annealed, brushed, polished, passivated or decorative surface requirements, especially for visible or sanitary applications.
What information is needed for quotation?
Provide standard, grade, seamless or welded route, NPS or OD, wall thickness or schedule, length, surface, inspection, MTC, packing and destination port.
